Hollywood star MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY has sparked rumours he and girlfriend CAMILA ALVES are expecting a baby boy - after reportedly buying gender-telling baby items online.
The Sahara star announced he would become a first-time dad after confirming earlier this year (Jan08) his Brazilian partner was 12 weeks pregnant.
And the 38-year-old said he was desperate to keep the sex of his unborn child secret - because he fears it will ruin the excitement of fatherhood.
But according to reports at the New York Daily News, the couple have discovered they are expecting a baby boy, after a source revealed to the newspaper the couple recently placed orders for T-shirts and bibs saying "Hunk" from baby website plainmary.com

Megan Fox has reportedly called off her engagement. The 22-year-old actress is said to have ended her four-year relationship with former 'Beverly Hills 90210' star Brian Austin Green, 34, because she feels too young to settle down. A source close to the 'Transformers' star said: "Megan still cares about Brian, but she now realises she's too young to marry him." She reportedly notified her friends and business associates of the news last week. Megan and Brian got engaged in November 2006. Brian was previously engaged to co-star Vanessa Marcil, with who he has a six-year-old son, Kassius. Megan - who was voted World's Sexiest Woman by British magazine FHM earlier this year - has previously spoken about her high sex drive. She said: "I really enjoy having sex, and that's offensive to some people. I'm young and have a lot of hormones - I'm always in the mood! But I like sex with one person when I'm in a relationship. Sex with random people who I've met at clubs is not really my thing."

Lindsay Lohan celebrated her birthday with her alleged girlfriend Samantha Ronson yesterday (02.07.08). The 'Mean Girls' actress, who turned 22, dined at Beverly Hills' La Scala restaurant with the DJ and several other friends. Before the meal, the pair spent the afternoon shopping in Los Angeles and browsed at shops including exclusive jewellery store Cartier. Lindsay sparked rumours she was in a lesbian relationship with Samantha - who is the sister of super producer Mark Ronson - after sending intimate messages to her over the internet last year. Recent reports claim Lindsay plays the submissive 'wife' in the relationship. A source said: "Lindsay and Samantha are totally playing house and loving every minute of it. And, yes, they share a bed! "They both play certain roles. Lindsay is the passive one, the wife. It works for them!" Lindsay has recently been busy on the set of her latest movie 'Labor Pains', a comedy in which she plays a woman who pretends to be pregnant in order to prevent her boss from firing her.

CHRISTIAN BALE, MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL and GARY OLDMAN have tipped late actor HEATH LEDGER to win an Oscar for his role in THE DARK KNIGHT.
Ledger's Batman co-stars predict he will win over critics with his performance as The Joker at next year's (09) Academy Awards - which will be held just over a year after his tragic death (Jan08).
Bale, who stars as Batman in the forthcoming movie, says, "A lot of people talk about awards all the time, and it's early days. But if anybody deserves it, of course, it is Heath in this.
"I do think that Heath has created an iconic villain that will stand for the ages, and of course, I would love to see him get an award. But you know, to me, you can witness his talent, celebrate his talent within this movie. Anything else is gravy." He adds, "Heath has done a phenomenal enough job that I would not be surprised (if he won)." Fellow co-star Gyllenhaal, whose brother Jake starred with Ledger in 2005's Brokeback Mountain, tells MTV.com, "He hit it in the entire performance (in Batman).
"It's so difficult to do that in a huge movie like this and much easier to do in the tiny movies. That's why those are always the people who win Academy Awards.
"Heath was (amazing); it's so unusual, and it happens really rarely even for the best actors, that you just hit this stride in a role and you're totally free. And when that happens, you can do no wrong. It's incredible to be around, and that's what it was like with him." And Oldman adds, "I think it's an incredible performance. I think it sets a new benchmark. It would surprise me if he didn't get a posthumous Oscar for it." Only seven actors have received posthumous Oscar nominations, including Spencer Tracy for 1967's Guess Who's Coming To Dinner and James Dean, who was nominated twice after his death for 1955's East Of Eden and 1956's Giant.
Ledger was found dead from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in his New York apartment in January (08).

Actor MATT DAMON is worried he has lost his title as the sexiest man alive after piling on the pounds for his latest role in THE INFORMANT.
The Hollywood hunk garnered the flattering title after People magazine voted him the most attractive male in the world in 2007.
But the star, who currently looks unrecognisable compared to his former trim self, is sure he will be stripped of his title - because he has got so fat.
Damon piled on 40 pounds (18.14 kilograms) for the movie.
He tells People.com, "I think I lost my (Sexiest Man Alive) title. It wasn't necessarily that I needed to be fat - it was that I needed to be 'doughy'." And the star faces constant ribbing from his friends for expanding his waistline to enhance his performance.
Best friend Ben Affleck tells the website, "Some things are just self-evident and don't even require making fun of. I mean, the man buys two seats on an airplane!"

BRAD PITT has turned to his THE MEXICAN co-star JULIA ROBERTS for advice on raising twins.
The movie hunk is set to become a father again when partner Angelina Jolie delivers twins in France, and reports suggest he has reached out to the Pretty Woman star for some expert advice.
A source tells America's the Globe, "Brad was all frantic about knowing if the rules for twins are different than raising or taking care of single babies.
But Julia told him it's the same - only twice as hard." Jolie checked into a Nice, France hospital on Monday (30Jun08) where she will remain until she gives birth. Roberts gave birth to her twins, Phinnaeus and Hazel, three years ago (05).

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's marriage is reportedly on the rocks. The couple - who tied the knot two months ago following a whirlwind six-month romance - are said to already be arguing about Mariah's demanding behaviour. A source said: "Nick is basically around to attend to her diva-ish ways. When they were in Hawaii where Mariah was filming the video for 'I'll Be Lovin' U', Nick dashed off to buy her gifts at Tiffany and Co. and Louis Vuitton to keep her happy." When 39-year-old Mariah injured herself during the shoot, Nick was right by her side. The source added to America's OK! magazine: "He helped Mariah out of the pool. She looked like she was going to cry." Mariah is also reportedly taking control of 27-year-old Nick's career, and is keen to promote his musical ability with high-profile performances. An insider said: "Nick had signed on to perform at a sweet-sixteen party before he and Mariah got married. But now Mariah needs to oversee and approve his career moves. "There are no more silly small-time gigs. She wants him to do big venues and projects. She definitely wears the pants in the relationship.

KATE HUDSON and LANCE ARMSTRONG enjoyed a meal with the actress' mum Goldie Hawn, further fuelling rumours they are an item.
The rumoured couple was spotted eating a late lunch with Hudson's Hollywood veteran mother Hawn at the Ivy restaurant in Santa Monica, California, on Tuesday (01Jun08). They were snapped laughing and joking as they dined outside on the restaurant's patio area, according to People.com. Hudson and Armstrong have been romantically linked since they were spotted kissing and cuddling during a party at the Cannes International Film Festival in France in May (08).
But they have refused to speak publicly about their romance.
When athlete Armstrong was put on the spot on U.S. chat show The View, he declined to answer the four female hosts' inquiries as to his single status.
Armstrong explained, "Number one, I know you have to ask that question. And it's my right not to answer it. Number two, I think when you're happy about something or proud about something, I think it's natural in human nature to talk about it.

TV host ROSIE O'DONNELL has laughed off reports she is splitting up with girlfriend KELLI CARPENTER - and has slammed the journalist who started the rumour.
It was reported on Monday (30Jun08) that the actress and comedienne had split with long-time partner Carpenter.
The New York Post's gossip columnist Cindy Adams wrote: "Rosie O'Donnell and Kelli Carpenter, the handsome blond gal Rosie calls her wife, may not be so together anymore.
"Whatever other difficulties such a breakup might cause, there is also a houseful of adopted kids they're raising." But O'Donnell has hit back at the claim, taunting Adams by saying she is "a lesbian but she doesn't know it yet", reports Fox News.
A spokesperson for O'Donnell joked: "She's going to leave Kelli for Cindy Adams." O'Donnell, 46, and Carpenter, 41, wed in 2004, but the marriage was nullified by a Californian court.
They have adopted children Parker, 13; Chelsea, 11; and Blake, eight, and biological daughter Vivienne Rose, five.

Jennifer Aniston reportedly had Kimberly Stewart thrown out of boyfriend John Mayer's concert. The former 'Friends' star - who has been dating the singer for around three months - was said to be furious when Kimberly, who has previously been linked to John, turned up backstage before his performance at Hard Rock Calling in London's Hyde Park on Sunday (29.06.08). In order to keep his new girlfriend happy, John asked security to remove Kimberly. A source said: "Jennifer spotted Kimberly and asked John what she was doing there. John and Kimberly know each other from clubbing in Los Angles, but Jennifer doesn't want anyone around who reminds her that he used to be a player. "She has fallen head over heels for John, but she's scared it will all go wrong again, like her marriage to Brad Pitt." However, just 10 minutes after being told to leave, Kimberly was back at the side of the stage and started waving at John, so she was removed again. The source added to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "She had been told twice by security that she would be removed but she just stood there. John spotted the potential problem and told his security to get rid of her at all costs. "Kimberly was pulled off the stage and escorted through the Hard Rock VIP tent with a face like thunder, shouting, 'Why doesn't he want me here? Is this because of her?' "She totally embarrassed herself, but Jennifer looked relieved."

Kanye West insists he has "made it" now Amy Winehouse has called him a ****. Writing on his blog, the rapper responded to comments apparently made by Amy on stage during her Saturday night set (28.06.08) at the Glastonbury festival. The post simply read: "This just in... Amy Winehouse hates me!!! Now I've really made it!!! LOL!!!" It then quoted a story about Amy's onstage claims. According to Britain's NME magazine, Amy - who played before Jay-Z's headline set - said: "Are there any black people in the crowd? Let's hear it for Jay-Z. The man has got b******s to come here, and play the tunes you don't even know you remember. Imagine if it was a **** like Kanye West. '****s Like Kanye' - that should be his next album title." Jay-Z responded, saying: "Amy said something about Kanye late on in her set but I didn't hear it. I don't agree with it. He's my brother and the biggest artist on Roc-A-Fella right now. I guess I should hook them up, because he's a great guy, too. I don't know what the problem is. I don't know where that came from." Numerous fans posted messages on Kanye's blog criticising the 'Rehab' singer for her conduct. DJStructure wrote: "Coming off drugs if you've been on them forever is crazy. Pete Wentz is tired of being the victim of a "gay witch hunt". The Fall Out Boy rocker, who is expecting his first child with new wife Ashlee Simpson, insists he is happily married and only interested in women. Pete, who has previously referred to himself as "half gay", told Out magazine: "When I'm going down the street I get called a fag all the time. I'm still getting called the same names as when I was 13. "There's a little bit of a gay witch hunt. I don't know if it's to bust homophobia wide open or get more attention. It's like, 'This person's gay, this person's gay, this person's gay.' "When I said that I make out with dudes, there was a slight sense of sexual rebellion in that. And I probably even made it a bigger deal than it was. The last time I experimented was probably when I was 22. "I've always felt this relentless heterosexual drive." Pete also laughed off rumours Ashlee's father Joe - an ordained Baptist minister - banned him from visiting the family home last year. The 29-year-old rocker said: "That rumour was such bulls**t. We laughed about it. Joe was like, 'We should take a picture in front of the Christmas tree holding hands.' "I know I'm going to get a reaction when I say things. I don't get on stage and give a social diatribe. I am a performer and an entertainer."

Gwen Stefani says being an overweight child has made her weight conscious. The No Doubt singer says she struggled with her weight when she was growing up and insists she has to work hard to maintain her figure. Gwen - who is currently pregnant with her second child - said: "At school, I remember thinking that I wished I could like a girl that was so skinny and got to eat whatever she wanted. I always had to exercise. My weight fluctuated and I got chubby again in 11th grade - at like 16 - and then I was like, 'You know what? I've had enough of this up and down thing!' "So I got on the swim team and I was more determined not to be that chubby girl any more. Ever since then I've been able to control it, but it sucks. Nowadays I just try to realise how stupid it is, because nobody cares - except me!" Gwen - who is now married to Gavin Rossdale - also revealed being overweight has made her insecure. She added to Britain's OK! magazine: "I was never really a shy person, but during those teenage years you always have your insecurities, and I can remember feeling not to happy with the way I looked, wanting not to be fat."

Rumours of a split between MADONNA and her husband GUY RITCHIE are refusing to go away - despite the star issuing a statement dismissing speculation about a possible divorce.
The couple has been under intense media scrutiny amid rumours they are allegedly on the verge of a permanent split.
And the Material Girl's publicist Liz Rosenberg attempted to set the record straight earlier this week (beg30Jun08) - insisting that there are no plans for a divorce.
But the statement has failed to quash speculation about the state of the pair's marriage, with new reports suggesting the star is putting off making an official announcement until after she has completed her upcoming Sweet & Sticky world tour later this year (08).
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "Trust me, it's over. Why else would they both consult divorce lawyers? Madonna hates being pushed into a corner and would hate other people having the satisfaction of saying, 'We told you so.' "The announcement will be slipped out after her tour - as planned." BATMAN star CHRISTIAN BALE has declared he will quit the comic book movie franchise if producers ever decide to reintroduce the caped crusader's sidekick ROBIN.
Bale took on the role of the legendary action hero in 2005's Batman Begins and will be seen again in The Dark Knight, which is due for release later this month (Jul08).
But the actor is hoping that the character of Robin is not brought back into any of future Batman movies - because he will resign in protest.
He says, "If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I'll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work."

Former KORN star BRIAN `HEAD' WELCH is set to return to the limelight with a new solo album after taking a religious sabbatical from the music industry.
The guitarist stunned the rock world when he walked away from Korn in 2005, explaining he needed to care for his daughter, Jennea, as a single father and commit to his faith after becoming a born-again Christian.
But Welsh returned to the recording studio last year and his debut solo record, Save Me From Myself, will be released in September (08) on Driven Music Group - the label he co-founded.
The album features David Bowie and Peter Gabriel's long-serving session musician Tony Levin and A Perfect Circle star Josh Freese.
Welch says, "I'm really excited about getting my music out there to my fans.
I literally poured everything I had into Save Me From Myself, and I know it's gonna inspire a lot of people.
"It's been a long time since I've connected with people musically, and now that the wounds have healed from my past addictions, I'm ready to feel the magic again."

The wife of U.S. talkshow host LARRY KING has reportedly been admitted to rehab, suffering from an alleged addiction to painkillers.
Shawn Southwick King - who has been married to the TV personality for 10 years - is being treated at an undisclosed clinic for problems relating to her dependency on migraine relief drugs, according to reports.
A source tells the New York Post gossip column PageSix, "Shawn is in rehab for medication issues related to her chronic migraine problem." The TV actress is King's sixth wife and they have two children together Chace, nine, and Cannon, eight.

R&B star JILL SCOTT has announced her engagement to her drummer boyfriend JON ROBERTS.
The delighted singer chose to reveal the good news during a show at New York's Carnegie Hall on Saturday (21Jun08).
Halfway through her set, Roberts - who drums in her band - presented her with a large bouquet of flowers and a kiss. Scott then turned to the crowd and announced their wedding plans - and the news was met with wild cheers and applause from the audience.
Scott divorced her husband of five years, DJ Lyzel Williams, last year (07).

BROOKE SHIELDS has trained her eldest daughter to deal with the paparazzi photographers who hound the actress and her family.
Shields shares two daughters - Rowan Frances, five, and Grier Hammond, two with her TV-writer husband Chris Henchy, and she reveals the constant press attention she gets when out with her girls has prompted her to teach Rowan how to react.
The actress says, "(Rowan) will say, `Mom, paparazzi.' It's sad to me that she even knows the word. But then I said, `What do you do about that?' and she said, 'Well, I look straight ahead and I don't look them in the eye.' "So there's the sense of don't let them invade. They're going to be there; let's not let them ruin our day or our life. And I think that's a slightly healthier way of dealing with it."

Actor JAMES McAVOY refuses to advertise products because he wants fans to concentrate on his movies - and not be sidetracked by promotions.
The Atonement star is suspicious of thespians who associate themselves with a certain brand, insisting that actors are not salesmen and he won't compromise his career to make extra money.
He says, "As soon as you start to try and sell people stuff then surely you contravene some contract with the film-going public? "Even if they (the public) know the type of clothes you like to wear - then it becomes funny for them watching you wearing a tux. I know those are tiny little things but I do think that makes a difference."
